We regret to inform you that you are not in the 90s; we are still in the year 2016. This article is about Sony VR's demo disc, and we bet kids today don't know what this is. For those who are too young to know, demo discs were passed around way back in the antique time of gaming. The discs are distributed via magazines - we hope you still know what this is, or as add on to a purchased full game.
The purpose of these demo discs is to tease the player by having him play some levels, and if interested, the player will pre-order or buy, depending on its release status. Fast forward to 2016, Sony's PlayStation VR will revive the idea and ship a free demo disc. Inside this so-called demo disc are 8 trial games so that they can provide you the "perfect introduction to your new Virtual Reality world."
Here are the demos as reported by Sony EU:
DRIVECLUB VR - Evolution Studios | You will feel the rage and speed of high-octane racing in a completely new way, you'll think like it's your first time to play DRIVECLUB
PlayStation VR Worlds - LONDON STUDIO | This takes you to a refreshing splash but in the dangerous waters of Ocean Descent, this teases 1 of 5 amazing PlayStation VR experiences to be available in full release.
RIGS Mechanized Combat League - Guerrilla Games | You get to be an expert of some of the most refined and physical fighting technology ever created, add a dash of fast-paced combat, this is indeed the ultimate future of sport
Tumble VR - Supermassive Games | Discover a new era of puzzles with a fully 3D adaptation of the block stacking game
Battlezone - Rebellion | Experience the future's battlefield right now in the commanding Cobra tank, and destroy all that blocks your path
EVE: Valkyrie - CCP | Aim for the stars and gust your way through hordes of fighters in nerve-wrecking space battles
Wayward Sky - Uber Entertainment | Fly with the beauty of the softest clouds in a quest to find father, set on a decomposing airborne fortress
Headmaster - Frame Interactive | Grow some kick within, and on someone's head! This awesome Football Improvement Center is certainly is an exciting VR game
With the very young age of this technology, the inclusion of a demo disc may prove to be a clever move by Sony. PlayStation VR rolls out on Oct. 13 and will be the exclusive hardware of the highly anticipated Until Dawn: Rush of Blood and Batman: Arkham VR.
