Fallout 4 PS4 mods were supposed to be released back in June, but unfortunately, they were delayed. Ever since then, gamers and fans alike have been waiting for a go signal from Bethesda. However, fast forward to today, the studio finally announced that the highly anticipated mods won't be happening. And the reason? Well, Sony won't just simply allow the implementation of such feature in their system. With no official explanation of sorts, this left the community in doubt. Nevertheless, here are 3 possible reasons why the tech giant resorted to do so.
Hacks, Piracies And Exploitations
For sure, this is a very plausible reason for Sony to cease the existence of Fallout 4 mods in PlayStation 4. It's no secret that the console has an OS similar to that of Linux. The only difference it has is that it's basically a modified version of FreeBSD. But of course, just because it's free, it doesn't mean it's safe. Allowing mod support for Bethesda's title could give the general public access to various developer-exclusive benefits. And since the system is an open base, in one way or another, the hardware maker might be worried about possible exploits and piracies, among others.
NSFW Stuff
Simply put, it refers to inappropriate materials that are not good for some Fallout 4 players. Why? Because really, not all mods are developed for all audiences, as there are some that stretches into adult-themes. From profanity to nudity to other sexual connotations, these are somewhat included in various gaming mods. Sure enough, Fallout 4 PS4 mod won't be an exception to that. And Sony, being a closed platform maker they're known for, they won't definitely allow such riffraff to taint their market reputation .
Stability Of PS4 System
Ever wondered why Sony wanted a QA (Quality Assurance) process for Fallout 4 PS4 mods? Well, that's because they've always desired to have the system's stability checked from time to time. Take note that on Xbox One and PC, mods tend to crash the systems based on how they're being placed on top of the other. Obviously, the company would do everything in its power to introduce something that wouldn't hurt its flagship product. Just think of the console being a very pristine item that the tech giant wouldn't want to be stained. Or perhaps, Sony just wants more control, but Bethesda isn't going to play such game.
