PS4 Pro News: ‘The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’ Developer Will Not Issue Patch For PS4 Pro, Here's Why

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will not have a PS4 patch. The game's developer CD Projekt Red recently told the reasons why.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt 4K Patch - Too Much Work

CD Projeckt Red recently told Eurogamer that developing a PS4 Pro 4K video resolution patch for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will entail too much time and resources for a game that has been out for a quite a while. The developer also said that it would rather devote its attention to upcoming projects like Cyberpunk 2077 and the Gwent (Witcher Card Game). The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was first released on May 2015.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Supports 4K Resolution - On Windows PC

Interestingly, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has 4K resolution on Windows PC. Digital Foundry even used the third Witcher installment game as a PlayStation Neo (now PS4 Pro) benchmark. If Witcher 3 already has a Windows PC 4K resolution, why is it hard to make a PS4 Pro 4K patch?

DF spokesperson Tom Morgan said that upgrading the game to 4K resolution will also require that the world must also" look good enough for the upgrade". The video texture on the console is usually medium to high quality. However, the Windows PC can present a texture quality of up to ultra. DF also presented a video resolution comparison for PS 4 and Windows PC.

PS4 Pro Release Date and 4K Support from Other Games

The PlayStation 4 Pro is due for release on November 10, 2016 with opening sales tag of around $400. Several console games that will have PS 4 Pro 4K patch include Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. It is also highly likely that all upcoming PlayStation games starting October will have 4K resolution support.
