Xiaomi Mi 5s To Be Launched In China on September 27

The alleged upcoming variant of the current Mi 5 smartphone model, the Xiaomi Mi 5s, is rumored to be launched in China, on a September 27 event.

According to the website tech.firstpost.com, the Mi 5 will be powered by a Snapdragon 821 processor. The upcoming flagship smartphone from Xiaomi will be launched in an even in China, scheduled to take place on September 27, as suggested by the invites already sent out by the company.

The invites sent out by Xiaomi feature a notable "S" that hints that the launch event would be for the highly anticipated Mi 5s smartphone. Previous rumors and leaks online have been revealing various details of an enhanced version of the Mi 5, the upcoming Mi 5s.

Among the key features of the device are expected to be included a powerful Snapdragon 821 processor clocked at 2.4 GHz, 5.5-inch display with 3D Touch and an impressive 6 GB RAM. The mobile device is expected to come with 256 GB of internal storage.

Some previous reports were claiming that we can expect two more variants of Mi 5s. One of them will come with 64 GB onboard storage and 3 GB RAM, while the other variant will come with 128 GB onboard storage and 4 GB RAM. A few rumors are also suggesting that a 256 GB variant will be offered.

Xiaomi's Mi 5s will run a layer of MIUI 8 on top of the Android Marshmallow operating system. Rumors suggest that the mobile device will feature a 16 MP rear camera and a 4 MP front-facing camera.

Some other rumors speculate that the smartphone will feature a dual camera module on the back. There are also speculations about the presence of a fingerprint scanner that will look somehow similar to the iPhone 7 tactile home button.

According to Gizmodo, other features expected to be included in Mi 5s are Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC and USB Type C. If these rumors will prove to be true, then it seems that with the upcoming Mi 5s Xiaomi is preparing the rebuttal to the Google Pixel and OnePlus 3 smartphones.
