NBA Trade Rumors: J.R. Smith To Finally Sign With The Cavaliers

The long tumultuous wait is finally over as the Cleveland Cavaliers and J.R. Smith’s new deal are currently in the works.

On a free agent status, Smith has been making headlines lately as several ball clubs are eyeing to acquire his impressive playing skills.

A report noted that the shooting guard and the Cavs are not in mutual tables when the initial offer was made. Smith and his camp were looking for a “slightly bigger deal” that would commensurate his tenure and achievements but Cavaliers’ owner Dan Gilbert seem to be hesitant to grant Smith’s demand due to financial concerns.

However, recent NBA trade rumors hint that Smith and the Cavs are in the process of working things out for a final contract.

Sports Rageous shared a photo snapped by the 31-year old who took time to watch an Indians game with #meeting as part of the caption. The image and the teasing hashtag seem to show signs of Smith and his former league talking things out to officially close an arrangement in papers.

With Smith’s absence on the team, Head coach Tyronn Lue admits missing the “heart” and “soul” of their squad.

"The biggest thing is we miss J.R. I mean, you can feel it," Lue said in an interview with Cleveland.com as the Cavs are currently reunited in Santa Barbara, California for Lebron James’ training camp.

"J.R., he's the heart and soul of team. Usually when it's anything involving the team, J.R. would be there and would be right in the middle of it. You'd hear him laughing or if it's work, he'd be out there giving it his all. It's hard," Lue elaborated his sentiments.

It looks like the Cavs and Smith are taking time to settle their differences, particularly with the rate of the contract. Their followers are hoping that they could still act as one group in the upcoming season and will be able to retain the much coveted title of any basketball crew.
