Following the lawsuit filed against Jim Carrey for the wrongful death of his late girlfiend, Cathriona White, he is now facing yet another controversy. This time, the actor was accused of passing on three Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) to White.
It can be recalled that Mark Burton, White's estranged husband, sued Carrey for illegally obtaining painkillers that allegedly killed his ex-wife. And just recently, Burton revealed new allegations to Carrey, adding more damage to the actor's reputation.
According to reports, Burton claimed Carrey gave White three STDs (Herpes1, Herpes 2, and Gonorrhea.) He also suggested that these STDs were a huge factor for his ex-wife's suicide. Burton then revealed that Carrey pressured White to keep mum about the STDs.
Amidst all the accusations, a heartbreaking letter written by White has been made public. In the page-and-a-half letter, White expressed her despair on having contracted the STDs from her actor boyfriend. Part of White's letter states:
"I am 27 years old and all that was left of me was a shell and a damaged one at that. Picking myself back up emotionally and mentally is one thing, people have bad experience and break-ups, it's hard but with time they move on, meet someone new, start over. Add in disease. How does someone move on and meet someone new? 'I am damaged. I am discusting (sic) When I shower I feel sick. Getting turned on...what's that? Certainly not something that happens (to) me any more. I will always be damaged goods and have a stigma attached. So I have to accept something I was always afraid of. Being alone. Being abandoned and alone."
With the letter circulating online, Carrey insists that he did not give White any STDs. According to reports, the actor believes she must have got them before they were together and that he was tested before they ever had sexual contact.
Meanwhile, TMZ revealed White's alleged letter to Carrey before her suicide. The letter shows how much she struggles in her final days:
"I've spent 3 days now in disbelief that you're not here. I can go on brokenhearted and try to put the pieces back. I could, I just don't have the will this time. I'm sorry you felt I wasn't there for you. I tried to give you my best part. I don't really know about burial or that sort of thing. You are my family so whatever you choose will be fine. Please forgive me. I'm just not for this world."
Meanwhile, Carrey's lawyer, Marty Singer doubts Burton's motives. The pair were still legally married, thus he was declared next-of-kin after her death. However, Burton insists that his motives are honorable claiming, "People will now learn about the real Jim Carrey and his treatment of women."
