Job Postings for Unannounced Diablo Project Filled Up
Ardent Diablo fans noticed Blizzard job postings for an untitled Diablo game since early 2015. All of the job positions including the game director position have apparently taken out. This suggests that the new hires will now start working on a Diablo game project.
Posting About a Different Diablo Game
A Diablo2.net poster, Pharaohmancer claimed that he talked with an alleged Blizzard employee. He revealed that there is indeed an upcoming Diablo game. However it is "neither a Diablo 4 nor a Diablo 3 expansion." The unidentified Blizzard employee insists that the upcoming game will not be the traditional top down gameplay. However, the fact that it's a brand new game certainly hints that it's the fourth Diablo installment unless it's a mobile game version.
New Diablo Game Director
Josh Mosqueira resigned as Diablo game director a few months ago. This triggered speculations that Blizzard may announce the appointment of Wyatt Cheng as Diablo game director at Blizzcon. He is currently part of the senior design team for Diablo 3.
Diablo 3 - Under Maintenance Mode?
There are rumors that Diablo 3 is now under maintenance mode. Blizzard usually conducts a Public Test Realm (PTR) each season before issuing a major patch in Diablo 3. The season normally last for three months while the PTR last half that long. The test and patch cycle are so predictable that fans are worried why there is no PTR announced yet. The current season is nearing its second month.
There are rumors that Blizzard has disrupted the normal Diablo cycle because they have something big to announce at Blizzcon. There are also speculations that Blizzard has decided to put Diablo 3 under maintenance mode since the game is already well balanced for now.
