'Criminal Minds' Season 12 Spoilers And Updates: Paget Brewster Returns On Episode 3 'Taboo'

CBS "Criminal Minds" has just kicked off its 12th season and is already showing promising episodes filled with crime-busting plots especially with the return of one of its favorite characters, Emily Prentiss, and for good this time.

"Criminal Minds" has confirmed the return of actress Paget Brewster when it released an exclusive teaser showing her character after Thomas Gibson's episode finale. Paget Brewster nabbed a permanent spot in the series to fill in the empty spot Thomas Gibson left after he got dismissed from the show in August. The 47-year old actress has expressed gratitude over the good news and said that it was the best situation she has ever been in. This was a lucky break for the actress especially when "Grandfathered", the comedy series she was part of, just got canceled after airing just one season in May.

Fans are glad that Paget Brewster is reprising her role as Emily Prentiss, but what will this mean to the series? Emily Prentiss has recurred now and then in the show in specific plot timelines but with her permanently back, there are a lot of angles of where the popular crime series is heading towards to. In the latest promotional trailer, Emily Prentiss is welcomed back to the Behavioral Analysis Unit and joins the team to investigate the case of three missing women. The trailer also hinted that a complicated relationship will arise between Prentiss and Luke Alvez, who is played by Adam Rodriguez.

"Criminal Minds" is an American police procedural crime drama TV series, which premiered in September 2005 on CBS. It featured stories around a team of FBI agents who solved cases through behavioral profiling. The series currently stars Joe Mantegna, Matthew Gray Gubler, A.J Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, Aisha Tyler, Adam Rodriguez, Paget Brewster, and Damon Gupton. "Criminal Minds" Season 12 aired its first episode on September 28, 2016.
