Virtual reality is becoming even more of a mainstream with the addition of the latest PlayStation VR. Players and developers alike are still adapting to the new platform; as they take their first foothold of the new world. For many, horror games might be one of the most enticing reasons to get the PSVR. After all, nothing in this world is scarier than being in the horror game that you are playing, as you frantically fight for survival against waves of monsters that are coming to get you.
Knowing this, most of the fans of survival horror genre, especially the most awaited Outlast 2 are hoping for a VR support of the game. But before anyone get their hopes up; Red Barrels President Philippe Morin has already stated that there will be no VR support for the sequel of the highly acclaimed first-person survival horror game, Outlast upon its release.
Philippe Morin on Outlast 2 VR Support
In his exclusive interview with PlayStation Lifestyle, Morin was asked if there will be a VR compatibility mode for the upcoming Outlast 2 next year. He responded: "No, it won't be. I think that if you want to make a really effective and enjoyable VR game, it has to be built from the ground up for it. Since, we're a small team of 20 people, we have to focus on one thing at a time. We'll see once we ship Outlast 2 if we jump on the VR bandwagon."
It's safe to say that this is a wise decision from the Red Barrels President considering the fact that most of the negative reviews from the upcoming VR games stems from the lack of preparation and tailoring from its core.
The Bright Side of the Story
For those that have already played the Outlast 2 demo (which is still available today), you'll definitely agree that it'll be a phenomenal hit especially if it will come with a VR support. Although it's a bit sad that we're not graced with this option upon its release, the good news is, they're not closing their doors for the possibility of a VR support in the near future.
Despite the lack of VR feature, a lot of fans would definitely agree that Outlast 2 can still struck a stark of fear to anyone without the need for a console headset.
