Best Gaming Laptops: Specs, Design, Pros & Cons

There are more than a handful of players in the tech industry, so much so that it can sometimes become overwhelming. And when the market is saturated, it becomes difficult to make an option. But then again, having too many options to choose from is not that bad a situation to be in.

In the world of gaming, there are certain aspects that make a good gaming laptop. Players obviously look at power, graphics and price. But there are other small features to look into as well, such as the keyboard, screen size and - for those that like the option of traveling with it - portability.

1. The Razer Blade, according to TechRadar, has a 2.5GHz Intel Core i7-6700HQ CPU and a Nvidia GeForce GTX 970M graphics card. The device sports a 14 inch QHD display and runs quickly on 16GB of RAM. It also has 256GB - 512GB worth of internal storage. The device runs for 3 and a half hours during game play, or six hours of continuous video watching.

As LaptopMag points out, the unit is the standard for lightweight portable gaming, as the Razer Blade is a mere 4.25 pounds. Overall, the device is good for gaming, video editing or even professional use. It sells for around US$1,800.

2. The Origin EON17-SLX, on the other hand, comes with an option for an Intel Core i5 or i7 processor and a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 - 1080 graphics card. It has 8GB - 64GB of RAM. The device sports a 17.3 inch FHD display and has storage options from 120GB - 4TB SSD, 500GB - 1TB HDD, 1TB SSHD.

The Origin EON17-SLX is powerful, but that power comes with a sacrifice in battery live and portability. However, it is ideal for gamers who do not mind the price tag and weight, as the device really is one of the most powerful in the market. It retails for about US$3,400.

3. The Asus ROG G752 has an Intel Core i7 CPU that partners up beautifully with Nvidia's GeForce GTX 970M - 980M graphic chip. It runs on an astonishing 16GB - 64GB of RAM. The screen which is 17.3 inches, is full HD with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. It also has 128Gb - 512GB SSD.

In terms of aesthetics of gaming laptops, the Asus ROG G752 definitely stands out. It sports a shell with aluminum panels, with angular lines and glowing red lights. But while it is great to look at, it also packs plenty of power - enough to pair it up with the Oculus Rift or the HTC Vive.

4. The MSI GT72 G Tobii is powered by the Skylake Core i7 processor, which is complimented by the Nvidia 980M GPU. The 17.3 inch screen has a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. It has 32GB of RAM and a pair of 128GB SSDs.

What is amazing about the MSI GT72 G Tobii is that it sports an innovative eye-tracking technology that changes the entire gaming experience. It also has a customizable keyboard and a sleek design. However, it does have a dimmer screen than its competitors.

5. The latest version of Alienware 13 is powered by an Intel Core i7 processor and a Nvidia GeForce GTX 965M graphic card. It is slightly smaller than its competitors at 13 inches. However, it was one of the first gaming laptops to sport an OLED display. It runs on 8GB of RAM and has 512GB of storage space.

Alienware 13 is one of the smallest in the gaming laptop industry, but it also has one of the best displays in the market, both in terms of quality and graphics performance. It also has a stellar keyboard and great audio quality.
