SoHo’s “Wentworth” cancellation rumors are rife following the tragic death of the series’ principal character Bea Smith. Is a confirmed season 5 not enough to convince the press and the audience that the show must go on?
Danielle Cormack has incredibly brought life to Bea Smith’s character and when her role was officially killed in “Wentworth” season 4 finale, her strong followers couldn’t contain their dismay and sadness.
Amid speculations that Bea survived the horrible killing plotted by Joan Ferguson, showrunner Jo Porter’s statements can only validate Bea’s unfortunate demise.
“It is always an incredibly difficult decision to say farewell to a much-loved and revered character like Bea Smith. Which is why this storyline has had such a huge impact on us all and we are sure fans will feel the same. This decision was particularly hard as it meant also saying goodbye to Danielle Cormack,” Porter said.
There it is. Bea is dead. But every soap has its own twists and turns of events; just as the avid fans have learned to accept the hard truth, new reports reveal something interesting.
An alternative way of bringing Bea back to the hit drama is through flashbacks or dreams. Her highly anticipated comeback is likened to “Game Of Thrones’” reappearance of Khal Drogo in Daenerys Targaryen’s visions when she visits the House of the Undying.
Another theory hinted to come into fruition is Bea’s survival. Despite the numerous stabbing that she suffered, her adorable strength to fight for her life will be seen and she is presumed to be recovering in a hospital’s ICU. Interestingly, once she had fully recuperated, she will seek for justice and avenge the near-death experience she got herself involved in the hands of Joan.
With season 5 filming in the works, would fans get a glimpse of Bea’s crucial presence?
