The New Era has ushered in to WWE but there's one particular talent that is emerging through his catchy phrases, witty conversation and wrestling knowledge, Chris Jericho.
Why is Chris Jericho Still Relevant After Two Decades?
Chris Jericho is actually on my top 10 greatest wrestlers of all time. He has the charisma of a rockstar, punchlines of a stand up comedian and a wrestling technician. Jericho has his ways in making the crowd love him and at the same time despise him. Both of them he enjoys it.
He has the 'it' factor and has the ability to adapt and adjust to any generation. He made his debut by interrupting The Rock in a segment. Chris Jericho appeared from the ring entrant with his back on the crowd then when he turned he welcomed everybody stating "Welcome to, Raw Is Jericho".
Chris Jericho Is Not Afraid To Reinvent Himself
He was the first Wrestler who constantly reinvents himself and whether he was the Ayatollah of Rock and Rolla, the King of the World, The Egotistical, Power Hungry Wrestler in a business suit or right now, rockstar like persona, he is getting one of the biggest pops, day in and day out. Chris Jericho is indeed gold.
The first ever undisputed champion beating Stone Cold and The Rock in one night is also a real life rockstar. During his hiatus, he and his band went on a tour with some notable rock bands such as Metallica and Slayer. Their song was even used by another wrestling company, TNA ,in one of their pay-per-view called Bound for Glory. The song is called Enemy and it was one of their best track in their album.
How Great Exactly Is Chris Jericho?
The Canadian wrestler started to shine on the spotlight when he held the WCW Cruiserweight Champion between 1996 and 1998. He has one of the greatest promos in WCW history. The most notable one is his segment where he mocks Dean Malenko and started reading his 1004 holds to Malenko's 1000. He's charisma is just incomparable. He can sell you anything by either mocking it or doing a story about it.
Jericho is a 3 time Slammy Award Winner. That includes the 2008 Superstar of The Year, Tag Team of The Year with Big Show in 2009 and 2014 he won the extreme moment of the year when jumped off on top of the steel cage to hit Bray Wyatt with a cross body. He is the ninth triple crowned champion, fourth Grand Slam champion and an astonishing 9 time Intercontinental Champion. The record still sits today as the most number of championships in history.
Apart from being the very first Undisputed Champion, he is also a 3 time WWE Champion and a 2 time WCW/World Champion. Jericho invented a lot of matches already and the most popular is the Money in the bank ladder match. Him and Eric Bischoff is given the credit in creating the explosive match. Chris Jericho has all the credentials to be inducted to WWE Hall of Fame and before he retires, I hope WWE will give him one more run at the title.
