Justin Hartley's departure from "The Young and the Restless" has been a big loss, but the actor who is now one of the main cast members in NBC's "This Is Us" might be back on the CBS daytime soap for a quick appearance during the February sweep. There have been a lot of revelations on Y&R over the past weeks and there's more to come with Adam Newman's reappearance. However, there's still one looming question - will Adam's role be played by Hartley or will Michael Muhney make a comeback?
"The Young and the Restless" February Sweeps
The revelations on Y&R have kept fans on the edge of their seats but right now, the hottest topic seems to be Adam's return. The show hinted that Adam is alive somewhere and is currently on the mend. As speculated in some reports, Adam is probably making plans to come home to be with the rest of the clan and it would be a great reunion especially now that they discovered that Sully is Christian. Sources reveal that Adam's return will happen from Jan. 26 to Feb. 22, the period for the 2017 Nielsen Ratings Sweeps.
Justin Hartley Or Michael Muhney?
Hartley, who used to play Adam Newman's role but left the soap to concentrate on "This Is Us," could make his way back to Y&R to shoot Adam's scenes. The actor may be concentrating on his role in the NBC series but he has enough free time. Meanwhile, there are also fans who are hoping that Muhney would make a comeback. Between the two actors, it would be easier to reintroduce Hartley although nothing is impossible in the world of soap opera. Irrespective of who gets the part, Adam's reappearance would add more excitement to the current storyline given the rough patch that the Newmans are going through.
Hartley confirmed his exit from "The Young and the Restless" in September but his character remains to be a huge part of the episodes. Hence, fans are hoping that he will be back on set as Adam Newman. On the other hand, Michael Muhney's exit from the soap was more controversial. Muhney played Adam's character until 2014 but he was informed that he will be let go before 2013 ended.
Muhney is considered to have the best portrayal of Adam's character. Given his popularity, fans were shocked when the network decided to kick him off the show. When Hartley first announced he will leave Y&R, numerous fans were rooting for Muhney's return. Although Hartley's return is more likely, fans will surely be waiting for word on the actor who will portray Adam.
