Great news from Tiger Woods as he finally announced Tuesday that he will play in the upcoming Hero World Challenge Dec. 1 to 4 in the Bahamas. The event is a tournament he hosts; which supports Woods' charitable foundation.

He hasn't won any PGA Tour event since the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational Cup in August 2013. The Hero World Challenge will have a field of 18, including defending champion Bubba Watson, reigning U.S. Open champion Dustin Johnson, British Open champion Henrik Stenson, PGA champ Jimmy Walker, Olympic gold medalist Justin Rose, two-time major winners Jordan Spieth and Zach Johnson and Ryder Cup hero Patrick Reed.

Woods was foreseen to play three weeks ago in the Safeway Open, the PGA Tour's 2016-17 season opener, but he withdrew. He also has withdrawn the same day from the Turkish Airlines Open on the European Tour, which has a game set for this week.
"I am excited to make my return at the Hero World Challenge at Albany and play in this terrific tournament," the 40-year-old Woods said in a statement. "This is our 18th year, and every year we put jointly a top field that displays the best golfers from the previous season," Woods said. "Albany is an notable setting, and I can't thank Hero MotoCorp sufficient for their support of the tournament and my foundation."
Woods, who was placed No.1 in the world for a record of 683 weeks, having four major championship victories short of Jack Nicklaus's record of 18. Last month, Woods told Charlie Rose that he was still pursuing more major championship wins.
"Do you believe you'll get 18 majors?" Rose asked. "To be honest with you, no," Woods replied. "You don't? You've accepted that?" Rose asked. "I've accepted I'm going to get more," Woods responded.
