With "The Vampire Diaries" already coming to an end, the fans of the show are still debating over who will end up together in the series. Prior to the exit of actress Nina Dobrev as Elena Gilbert, she was madly in love with Damon. However, many of the fans still believe that she should definitely end up with Stefan still. Stefan's Love For Elena Is Pure Even Right At The Very Beginning
Ever since the show started, at the very first episode of the series, it was already Stefan and Elena who were brought together by fate or destiny. The two were literally destined to be together and have been in so many lives. There are reincarnated versions of themselves in many past lives and they were brought into this world to find their way into each other. As opposed to Damon's love for Elena, Stefan's has always been pure. Granted that they both truly love her, there is still a difference between love that consumes her and one that sanctifies her.
Stefan Came To Mystic Falls Just To Be With Elena; Damon's Love Can Be Seen Only As Envy That Turned Into Real Emotions
Granted that both men love Elena equally and for the same intent of reality, Stefan's love for her was always what seemed so real. Damon is the kind of guy who can manage to be in love with anyone else. Stefan on the other hand, despite having moved on with Caroline already, it can still be felt beyond the television screens that his love for Elena is still the greatest of them all and couldn't be disregarded so easily. They both equally want to protect and serve Elena for as long as they live, but based on Damon's personality as opposed to Stefan's, he still doesn't seem to be the best option for her.
Elena May Have Met Damon First, But She Loved Stefan The Most With All Purity
Many of the "Delena" fans are basing their argument on Damon and Elena being meant to be together on the fact that technically, she met him first but was compelled to forget their encounter. However, love is not based on who she met first but who she loved most. Who's to say that if she did not forget meeting Damon at the bridge before her accident that she would love him as much as she loves him now? Elena was always drawn to Stefan, could be because of fate, but it could also be simply because he is the man for her.
Elena's Love For Damon Only Amplified Because She Was Sired To Him; Love Should Be Pure And Not Be Brought About By Mystical Reasons
Damon may not have meant it to happen, but it did. Elena's feelings for him only got stronger because of the sire bond. Although it was what caused the love to be recognized to what it is now, it still can't be denied that its roots aren't as pure compared to her love for Stefan. With the latter, it happened gradually and naturally. She fell in love with Damon only when she became a vampire and her feelings were amplified.
Although it may be hard for Stefan and Elena to end up together now granted that the series only has a few more episodes to go and with Nina Dobrev out of the cast members, the fans have not lost hope. A love like Stelena's can't just be easily overridden because she fell in love with Damon; a love that pure and true can't be so easy to let go of.
