Square Enix has recently announced its new project called Final Fantasy Legends 2. The company previously teased a new Final Fantasy game that is slated for mobile devices along with a timer on their official website. Currently, it was now revealed and will arrive exclusively for iOS and Android platforms.
According to Attack of the Fanboy, Chrono Trigger was previously rumored as director of upcoming Final Fantasy Legends 2 which eventually turned out to be true. He is also the director of the first game. It is reasonable if the upcoming title is unfamiliar to you since the series was localized in the west as Final Fantasy Dimensions. Prior to the announcement, a brief teaser video was also released. Though the dialogue is still in Japanese, there are still lots of cool concept art to check out.
Based on the report from Game Rant, Final Fantasy Legends 2 is currently on its pre-register campaign and Square Enix dubbed it as "a new Final Fantasy legend" while also adding some spice that states "a new adventure begins". In addition, plans for western release will be announced soon if there are any. However, if Square Enix considers releasing the game in both North America and Europe, it will be officially called as Final Fantasy Dimensions 2.
Square Enix is expected not to spend more time in telling the world where Final Fantasy is headed next since Final Fantasy 15 has gone gold. Final Fantasy on mobile has been consistently contributing to the publisher's formula for success in Japan. With Tokita and Amano on board, it is expected that the new mobile Final Fantasy would be a revolutionary piece. Meanwhile, Final Fantasy Legends 2 is expected to be responsible for the current trend than Dimensions since it seems Square Enix is struggling to impress the western markets.
