BlizzCon 2016 revealed a lot of goodies for every game Blizzard has and World of Warcraft is no exception. The developer confirmed that it has two upcoming updates for one of their popular RPG games, namely patch updates 7.1.5 and 7.2. Aside from these upcoming updates, they also hinted that there's another future update in the near future that will take players to a demon planet called Argus.
World of Warcraft game director Ion Hazzikostas confirmed in a separate interview that Argus will definitely come when the 7.3 patch update comes. He further confirmed that it will be part of the patch and not a standalone expansion.
Those who have been playing World of Warcraft and familiar with the story that surrounds its legends, Argus is one of the planets in the Warcraft universe and considered as one of the Burning Legion's seat of power. The legion is a demon army who tried to invade and conquer Azeroth in the last expansion. Argus used to be a wonderful planet once inhabited by the Draenei race but when the demon army took over, they corrupted those who were not able to escape.
Many players believe that Argus is a vast planet and it has been a subject in many game forums when they will be able to go and explore the planet. They even speculated that Argus will be released as a full expansion pack. However, Hazzikostas said that Blizzard planned otherwise stating the fact that although Argus has a lot of ecologies, the theme and story would be very linear: alien expansion.
He also explained that taking players to Argus will serve as the climax to the current expansion. They will go to Argus to finish evil once and for all. He even compared it to the ending of Mass Effect 2, his favorite game, where players go on a suicide mission because there's no other way to save themselves but to face evil.
Although the game director was really excited about Argus, he did not reveal any further details about Patch 7.3. He said that patch 7.1.5 will go live for public testing on the World of Warcraft test realm next week and available for release a short time after. Patch 7.2, on the other hand, will be available early next year.
