Blizzcon 2016 is spilling with new exciting reveals as Blizzard confirmed the new updates and improvements for the popular team-based first-person shooter game. The Overwatch team recently announced to install the server browser feature to the game soon, but no specific date was included in the announcement.
New Server Feature For Overwatch Currently In Progress
Last June, Game Director Jeff Kaplan laid out the plans for Overwatch in a lengthy message via the Battle.net forum. Including those he mentioned to improve overall functionality for the game was their research regarding the server browser type feature. Kaplan hoped that these new installments will upgrade the "spectator/broadcast/observer" functionality of Overwatch. Finally in BlizzCon 2016, Kaplan and the Overwatch crew assured the fans that they are "actively working" on the aforementioned server browser addition.
"This is a ton of work so would not be on the immediate horizon," he said in his statement. "But in our dream world, you could play Custom Games with 11 other people (friends or strangers) with fun rules in play and gain EXP while doing it."
Single-Hero Limit Confirmed For Overwatch's Quick Play Mode
Aside from the server browser update, the Overwatch crew also shed light regarding the single-hero limit for the non-competitive Quick Play mode. In contrast to this, the upcoming Arcade mode that will feature a variety of game types for casual gamers will have a no-limits option when selecting heroes, according to IGN.
The Overwatch team were also asked during their BlizzCon panel about holiday-specific items and further content similar to the Halloween-exclusive goodies that were given during the short-lived Halloween game event. Sadly, the team refrained from giving definite answers but they reassured the fans that they are still experimenting with the loot system and are referring to player feedbacks as a guide.
The upcoming Arcade mode and the in-game introduction of Sombra, the new Overwatch hero everyone is waiting for, are slated for release on the Public Test Realm happening next week. The Overwatch team also announced the possible release date of the new Oasis map sometime in December.
