Blizzard seems to have bunch of announcements for their first-person online multiplayer game Overwatch. One of the most notable news is the revelation of the most awaited character Sombra. Aside from the announcement of the new Overwatch character, the company also announced several future changes to the game set to arrive soon. One of those is Overwatch's non-competitive mode Quick Play.
According to the report from Game Rant, the single-character limit currently applied on Competitive mode will be soon introduced in Quick Play. It is known as the big distinguishing factor between the two game modes. Apparently, Overwatch's game director, Jeff Kaplan, announced during the event that this change will welcome those players who will just simply play a not-so-intense Quick Play mode. However, these casual players will be thrilled to know that there will be a future game mode that will bring stability to the new Quick Play hero limit and hopefully lessen those troll-filled games.
Additionally, Kaplan also introduced an upcoming game mode called Arcade which will reportedly feature multiple number of game types for casual gamers. These includes Mystery Duel, Elimination, Mystery Heroes, No Limits and All Brawls. Mystery Duel is a 1v1 best of five battle between two players both using a randomly selected hero. Elimination, on the other hand, is a 3v3 best-of-five clash where the single-hero limit and permadeath have been applied which means that Mercy will be invaluable on this mode.
Mystery Heroes, on the other hand, is a 6v6 scuffle in which the heroes are randomly selected for all players. No Limits basically describes the current Quick Play mode wherein players are free to choose their preferred heroes and how many they want. Lastly, the All Brawls functions as a playlist for all older and future new weekly Brawls.
As reported, players will be able to earn up to three loot boxes per week while playing the Arcade Mode while Brawl Mode will still exist but will be renamed as "Total Mayhem." Both the new Quick Play and Arcade Modes show how Blizzard is doing all its efforts in making Overwatch enticing and fresh to their fanbase. And this effort maybe the primary reason why the game achieved the recognition of being Blizzard's fastest title to hit 20 million players.
Overwatch is now available on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
