Hideo Kojima Will Finally Attend The Game Awards 2016 Without Konami Stopping Him; Bags Award

The iconic Metal Gear series creator, Hideo Kojima, finally gets to attend the upcoming The Game Awards show on Dec. 1. And guess what, he bags an award, too, specifically the "Industry Icon" award, this time, however, Konami can't stop him.

Well, we didn't see the legendary Kojima during last year's awards show right? Apparently, it's because Konami prevented him from attending the said Game Awards 2015. Awards show host, Geoff Kieghley, announced that Kojima isn't able to claim his award so on his behalf, actor Kiefer Sutherland accepted the awards for Metal Gear Solid V for winning Best Action Game and Best Soundtrack/Score. And we can't deny, many took to Twitter to express their disappointment.

Even Gears of War lead designer, Cliff Bleszinski, admitted that he joined in the booing during The Game Awards last year. Rumors about the game developer company and the genius behind Metal Gear's rocky relationship began to heat up, eventually leading Kojima leaving Konami. What started the conflict? It was mentioned that Silent Hills' cancellation started it along with other reported issues such as Kojima's name being removed from Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain's box art. And with not allowing Kojima to attend The Game Awards 2015, it probably was the final straw.

Kojima then announced that his studio, Kojima Productions, is partnering with Sony for Death Stranding, his upcoming new game. The new open world action video game was revealed at E3 last June. And yes, it was that puzzling yet hypnotic trailer with Norman Reedus in it.

Well, so much for that Konami-Kojima breakup... The announcement regarding Kojima's win in the upcoming The Game Awards 2016 was tweeted by our favorite host, Keighley, with a picture of the Metal Gear genius holding a small globe on his hand.

The Game Awards 2016 will feature the best games of this year and the titles hoping to grab the highly coveted overall Game of the Year award are Inside, Titanfall 2, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, Doom, and Overwatch. To "a game that delivers the absolute best experience across all creative and technical fields", good luck!

Additionally, The Game Awards 2016 nominees for Best Game Direction are Dice for Battlefield 1, id Software for Doom, Blizzard for Overwatch, Respawn for Titanfall 2 and Naughty Dog for Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. More Game Awards 2016 nominees here. So which game are you rooting for to bag the most awards?
