No SUV Is Faster Than 2018 Stelvio, Says Alfa Romeo

Not only the first but also the fastest. The much awaited debut of Alfa Romeo's first SUV has finally taken place at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show. However, the automaker did more than just show its first SUV because it showcased the fastest one of its kind. In fact, no SUV is faster than 2018 Stelvio, says Alfa Romeo and from the looks of it, the automaker can back its claim.

What Makes The Alfa Romeo 2018 Stelvio So Fast?

Road and Track reported that the Alfa Romeo 2018 Stelvio comes in three trims. The base trim Stelvio, Stelvio Ti and the top trim Stelvio Quadrifoglio. It was mentioned in the same report that the first two trims are equipped with the same 2.0-liter turbocharged four cylinder engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission capable of producing 280-horsepower. The top trim Stelvio Quadrifoglio however, is equipped with a twin-turbo 2.9 liter V6 engine that is also used in the Quadrifoglio Guilia Sedan. This engine is capable of busting out an amazing 505 horsepower that allows the Stelvio Quadrifoglio to go from zero to 60 in only 3.9 seconds with a speed that maxes out at 177 mph.

The Fastest SUV In The World

With this kind of powertrain, it can be assumed that no SUV in production is capable of going up against it. "We are confident that you are looking, right here, at the fastest SUV in the world," Reid Bigland, head of Alfa Romeo and Maserati said Wednesday after introducing the 2019 Alfa Romeo Stelvio, as reported by USA Today.

When Will The Beast Be Available In US Market?

According to Wired, the 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio will be available in the U.S. market by mid-2017 although the exact date of its availability was not mentioned. No details are given either regarding the price but given its stature, it would not come as a surprise if the price tag shows a hefty amount.
