Just a couple of months before the trade deadline in February for the 2017-2018 season, the Boston Celtics have expressed how they badly want a defensive-rebound player as an addition to the 17-time NBA champion. The latest NBA trader rumor suggests that the Celtics are eyeing the Dallas Mavericks' Andrew Bogut.
Andrew Bogut To Boston Celtics
Despite its strong roster of top-tier talents, the Boston Celtics are still on the lookout for a new trade player who could reinforce its defensive and rebounding mechanics. According to a recent report from CSN Philly, the Mavericks' center Andrew Bogut is "likely to emerge as a target" of the team.
The former No. 1 overall pick will be a free agent this summer as he is in the final stretch of his three-year, $36-million contract with the Dallas Mavericks. Apart from being a defense and rebound forerunner, Bogut is expected to unleash his physical banger in the middle which the Celtics have also been looking for.
Amir Johnson To Dallas Mavericks
The Mavericks have been struggling with their worst record in the NBA and are bound to put their high stakes on the first-round pick in June 2017. Trading with the Boston Celtics would help them make drastic improvements. In exchange of Bogut, the Celltics might ship off power forward Amir Johnson. From the looks of it, letting go of Johnson and a first-round pick doesn't put Boston in danger if the boost in its physical defense comes from Bogut. Johnson will also be free by summer.
There have been no confirmed talks between the Boston Celtics and the Dallas Mavericks as of now, but this trade definitely gives both teams equal advantage. The Celtics though are certain of their foundation while the Mavericks still have to pay close attention to their team makeup. Still, both camps have ample time to decide who should power up their teams.
