Not much is known about Death Stranding save for a few important details. It is widely known that Hideo Kojima of Metal Gear Solid is working on it and he has tapped the talents of Guillermo del Toro, Mads Mikkelsen and Norman Reedus for the upcoming game. With recent rumors, he may be thinking of adding more Hollywood stars to the formula.
A rumor from Game Transfers indicated that Kojima might soon be working with "La La Land" star Emma Stone for Death Stranding. It is known that a female character will star in the game, but who will be playing her is yet to be revealed. Rumors surrounding it say that Stone is a likely candidate along with Dutch actress Stefanie Joosten who is based in Japan right now.
The only reason why some believe Stone is joining Mikkelsen, Reedus and del Toro in Death Stranding is that Kojima is quoting a lot of quotes from her movie with Ryan Gosling, "La La Land." Is this the game developer's way of hinting the involvement of the Oscar-nominated actress in his game? That remains to be seen as of now.
Meanwhile, other actresses being pegged for the Death Stranding role are TV actresses Alison Brie from "Community" and Krysten Ritter from "Jessica Jones." They are not on the same level as the "Amazing Spiderman" female lead currently, which makes them more likely.
Other names being passed around in the rumor mill are Kevin Durand and Idris Elba for unknown roles. The latter is no stranger in the fantasy world for his works in "Thor" movies, "Star Trek Beyond," "Avengers" and in the upcoming film adaptation of "The Dark Tower."
Moreover, he previously starred in a commercial for Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Siege, a first-person shooter multiplayer game. While it is way different than acting in a game, it can serve as his entry point to the world where Kojima reigns.
Even so, these are simply rumors for now and should be taken with a grain of salt. More news can be expected as development of the much-awaited Death Stranding progresses. On a related note, here is a breakdown of the two trailers.
