The year 2016 is coming to a close and Sony has already released its last batch of free games for PlayStation Plus members. With that said, players are now looking forward to what the first month of 2017 could bring. Will Sony finally step up its game after a year of mediocre offerings?
PS Plus January 2017 Predictions: Knack
Knack is one of those games that have been in the PS Plus wishlist for quite some time now and with the announcement of a sequel, we may very well see it go free next month. The PlayStation 4 launch title did not do that well in terms of ratings, but somehow everybody is craving for it.
As noted by gamers, it's likely that many want to try it but not necessarily want to spend money on it. Though the platformer video game did not fare well among critics, the game is still enjoyable and worth spending your hours on. Including it in the PS Plus January 2017 would be a good move and a good indication of a fruitful year ahead for Sony's program.
PS Plus January 2017 Predictions: Saints Row 4
I am including Saints Row 4 again in this January 2017 prediction mainly because we deserve it. The open-world video game first released in 2013. It has been a full three years ever since, so it makes sense to include it in the lineup next month.
We already saw its standalone expansion Gat Out of Hell in PS Plus in the past, so why not release the original game? Thankfully for PS4 owners, it has already been ported to the current-gen consoles in 2015, so we can play it if Sony finally decides to offer it for free next year.
PS Plus January 2016 Predictions: Rayman Legends
Do you remember when was the last time we saw an AAA title in the PS Plus lineup? Me neither. To start the year right, it would do Sony well if a premium game makes its way to the January 2017 list of free games. It has already been available in Xbox Live Games with Gold in the past, so what's stopping Sony from doing the same?
It is one of the best platformer games today as evident in its ratings. Reviews would usually give it 9 out of 10 stars or 4 out of 5 stars. Should Rayman Legends miraculously make it to the January lineup, players can expect it to be available on both PS3 and PS4.
PS Plus December 2016 Free Games
To recall, the PS Plus December 2016 lineup includes Invisible, Inc. and Stories: Path of Destinies for PS4, Hyper Void and Tiny Troopers Joint Ops for PS3, and Color Guardians and VVVVVV for PS Vita. Note that Tiny Troopers can also be downloaded to PS4 and PS Vita while Color Guardians is also available on PS4.
The lackluster PS Plus December 2016 lineup could dim the hope for a better one next month. We hoped for Saints Row 4, but we got nothing that comes close. However, Sony could use this opportunity to go head to head with Xbox Live Games with Gold, which has a track record of pleasing its customers with its awesome free titles.
