'Pokemon GO' Guide: How To Play PoGo In Winter

Winter can't stop us from playing Pokemon GO. We are halfway through Niantic's Pokemon GO winter event and we can't just waste time lying on bed, wrapped with layers of blankets instead of hatching some Gen 2 babies. Here are the tips you can follow to be able to play Pokemon GO even in the freezing field of winter.

Change You Location Mode For Better Hatching

For Android Pokemon GO players, your phone's location mode is usually set to "High Accuracy," which slows down your egg hatching. Changing it to "Battery Saving" mode turns off the GPS and uses the WiFi or data to determine your location. To do this, navigate to settings then proceed to location option. Go to modes and select "Battery Saving." After that, your character should start moving around a bit more while you are actually just standing due to minor GPS bugs. It also speeds up your eggs hatch. And to add effectiveness to this strategy, intentionally hang out in places with poor GPS signal.

Pretend That You're Walking, Drive Slowly

This is an old trick but still works efficiently. While you're on your way to a nearby store or neighborhood, make use of the travel distance. Leave your Pokemon GO open, but be reminded that it is highly prohibited to play while driving.

Hang Out On PokeStops

Always make sure you have a place with a PokeStop where you can hangout. Either a cafeteria, bar, or just a covered court will do, as long as you can keep spinning and catching Pokemons that spawn in the place. Coffee shop is actually pretty good place for Pokemon GO winter players. You can just chill and hang around while catching those sweet Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, Venusaur, Squirtle, Wartortle, Blastoise, Charmander, Charmeleon, and Charizard around PokeStops.

Dress For The Occasion To Keep Yourself Warm ... And Use Gloves

If you're that kind of player who still wants to roam around even under the freezing temperature just to play Pokemon Go, be sure to dress for the occasion. Jacket, hat, boots, and pants to keep you warm should be enough. Most of all, equip yourself with gloves which are capable of keeping your hands warm to avoid dropping your phone.

Use Pokemon GO Plus

It's quite the hassle to navigate your way along the freezing roads while using your mobile. There is a solution to that, fortunately. Use your very own Pokemon GO Plus, or purchase one if you think it's worth it. Pokemon GO Plus enables you to simply press a button to catch Pokemon or spin PokeStops, which is way convenient than having to hold five or six inches of smartphones.

Escape Winter Completely

Not the best suggestion, but the most effective. If you're living in countries with the coldest weather during winter, you can choose to leave the country for a while and go to a place with better weather for Pokemon GO gaming. I'm not saying that you have to spend money for the sole purpose of playing; but if you have a chance, grab it!
