Blizzard celebrated the holidays with Winter Wonderland in Overwatch and players got to play two new modes in the arcade with Mei's Snowball Offensive and Mystery Heroes. Winter Wonderland has since been over, but fans are wondering if there's a chance to get Mystery Heroes back in the regular arcade. The good news is, they can, but they will have to want it really hard.
How Do We Get Mystery Heroes Back?
According to the Bitbag, game director James Kaplan has expressed that the team is willing to put Mystery Heroes back in the arcade if the fan demand is high enough. With a lot of fans voicing out their concern on the Battle Net forums, Kaplan was quick to write, "If demand is high for Mystery Heroes, we'll definitely consider removing one of the other modes in favor of Mystery Heroes. It's not a hard change so we welcome the feedback."
Kaplan has also noted that Mystery Heroes has been put in the All Brawl section of the game. Before Winter Wonderland even came about, the most popular arcade mode was the 3v3 battle until Mystery Heroes took over. The least popular modes are 1v1 and No Limits.
What Is Mystery Heroes?
Mystery Heroes was a game mode in Overwatch where players would play regular matches, but whenever they died, they would respawn as a random hero. There was a lot of room for improvisation as there was absolutely no limit to which character a player could pop-up as. Teams could get a whole team full of just healers or a team with three Bastions. Balance is thrown out the window, but it's the challenge that makes Mystery Heroes a favorite - not to mention it forces other players to try out heroes they've never used in-game before.
Will Mystery Heroes come back? Only time will tell. If the fans want it hard enough, Blizzard is always ready to oblige.
Overwatch is available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
