With the successful reception of Final Fantasy XV last year, fans are looking forward to 2017 for the release of more awaited games form Square Enix, Kingdom Hearts III and the remake of Final Fantasy VII. The bad news is, it looks like they will have to wait a bit longer for those titles to release, and fans might not even get to see a 2017 release at all for both games.
Tetsuya Nomura, the man behind the director's chair for both KH3 and FF7, says that the games are well under production, but it might take a while before these games would see the light of day. In an interview with Famitsu (via Siliconera), Nomura says that the reason for the wait is because he wants both titles to be able to meet fan expectations.
He says, "We're making steady progress on its production. While we are indeed working on it, I think we'll have you guys wait a little longer for both Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy VII Remake." He then went on to say that, though these games may not come out this year, the company will be updating the fans as to the progress of both games. Hopefully, the wait will be worth it.
As for Kingdom Hearts, Nomura has said that the production process for the game has been different to the way they were developed before. The developers have moved forward with work on some worlds, but there are some other locations in the game that have yet to be touched.
Gaming Bolt had pointed out that Square Enix has had the problem of announcing its games way too early, as fans have waited 10 years for the release of FFXV before it was released in 2016. Hopefully the release date for both Kingdom Hearts III and the Final Fantasy VII remake may be sometime around late 2017 to 2018.
