Hours from now, the world will finally get to know more about the Nintendo Switch, the hybrid console that has been stirring the rumor mill incessantly since it was introduced.
Price and Release Date
Since the Nintendo NX was revealed as the Switch, people instantly gasped at its pretty looks, portability, and ability to as a home console as well. But what many wanted to know outright was how much would it cost and when can they buy one.
The answers to those questions will be known later on but for the benefit of those who are overly excited, a number of rumors and leaks have sprouted that say the price and release date of the Switch.
The latest leak came from Japanese paper Nikkei which said that the Switch will cost ¥25,000 in Japan. That is equivalent to about $215. Early in November, Toys "R" Us Canada listed the Switch on its website with a $245 tag price. A safe bet is that the console will cost within the vicinity of $250.
The possible release date is March 19.
Specs
The things that are known so far about the Switch are that it sports a 6.2-inch display and that it has two small controllers called JoyCons. It also has kickstand at the back and uses tiny game cartridges instead of discs.
One of the most concerning rumors about the Switch is that it is not as powerful as one would want. It will have only one teraflop which is way lower than the PS4 Pro (4.2 teraflops), PS4 (1.8) and Xbox One (1.3).
The Switch is also rumored to have Nvidia's Maxwell graphics-processing tech which is also not as good as the PS4's graphic quality especially when playing high-end games.
Possible memory issues may also haunt Switch users as rumors say the hybrid console will only have 32GB of storage and support for up to 128GB.
Games
Much has been said about the possible games the Switch will have. The two latest leaks from GameStop Germany and IGN France both list the following games:
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
- Mario Kart 8
- Splatoon/Splatoon Counterattack
- The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Edition
- NBA 2K17
- Dragon Quest XI
- Just Dance 2017
These games often appear in rumors and the said leaks so chances are high that they will be included in the Switch's game library.
Other games mentioned before were "LEGO City:Undercover", "Dragon Quest X", "Monster Hunter", "Pikmin World", Minecraft", and "Pokémon Stars" among others.
After the big reveal later, watch out for the Treehouse Live event which will discuss all the Nintendo Switch games.
