A new poster and image gallery for Star Trek Into Darkness have surfaced.
From what we've seen in the Star Trek Into Darkness trailers, the film will center around villain "John Harrison" (Benedict Cumberbatch), a terrorist that Kirk and company must take down.
The image gallery includes close-up shots of different crew members, including Kirk (Chris Pine), Spock (Zachary Quinto), Sulu (John Cho), Uhura (Zoe Saldana), Chekov (Anton Yelchin), Scotty (Simon Pegg), Bones (Karl Urban), Dr. Carol Marcus (Alive Eve) and Harrison (Benedict Cumberbatch). The images include both set pieces and action sequences and one photo of particular significance may be the image of a heavily damaged Starship Enterprise.
The photos, reported by Screenrant, pose a few questions, such as whether a pictured MC-9321 is a version of the "Project Genesis" device. And why is Bones taking a DNA sample from Harrison?
The Star Trek Into Darkness poster features Harrison standing in the midst of a burning city. It follows a previous poster, which featured Harrison standing on a mound in front of a ruined city.
Information regarding Star Trek Into Darkness has been fairly secretive, which makes this type of release a definite treat for fans. Also heavily anticipated this summer is Zack Snyder's Man of Steel, which features Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman and Amy Adams as Lois Lane. Recent rumors have indicated that Lex Luthor has been cast for the film, an important piece of information given that we didn't know if Luthor would even be making an appearance in Man of Steel.
Star Trek Into Darkness arrives in theatres on May 17 in 3D and 2D versions.
