Overwatch 1v1 Arcade Mode Might Just Bring Back Mercy and Lucio

Game director Jeff Kaplan shares some details regarding possible future tweaks for the arcade mode in Overwatch. Furthermore, these changes will aim to enhance gameplay experience as well as hopefully bring back some characters in certain modes.

The inclusion of Ecopoint Antartica was one of the more smarter changes in the game as it brought in a new mode that Blizzard even used during a holiday event. However, like everything else, the specific map had its fair share of problems. Not only did the mode spawn a wave of cheaters and blast characters into oblivion, it also reduced some playability for certain characters.

Plans of Tweaking the Arcade Mode in Overwatch

In line with this, a report from PvP Line states that Kaplan posted an interesting tidbit information on the game's official forum. There, he responded to a fan requesting to make Lucio and Mercy playable in the 1v1 mode. The game director claimed that the team still has many future plans for the 1v1 and 3v3 modes that will hopefully reduce the number of 'Draws.'

Furthermore, he also hopes that these tweaks will help make the two said characters viable in the 1v1 mode. In a previous statement, Kaplan mentioned how the two support characters have too much survivability and their battles would lead to unnecessary 'Draws.' However, the game director nor Blizzard have yet to actually share their ideas for the said modes.

Roadhog Still Overpowered?

On the other hand, MMOExaminer reports an issue with Roadhog as he has the potential to kill all heroes in the game in a 1v1 situation. One fan, DoctorAngus, took this enigma to the official forums wherein he claimed that once a hero is hooked, Roadhog can easily kill them with one or two shots. Despite this, the character still has his flaws since he moves rather slowly and is sometimes predictable with his kit.

Characters like Reaper can easily shred Roadhog while other characters like Zenyatta can weaken him with a Discord Orb. On the other hand, Tracer can blink and dodge the hook before pelting the hero with bullets. With this in mind, all Overwatch heroes have their own specific counters that can help turn the tide of any battle even in the arcade mode.
