Iron Man 3 is just one week away but a new clip from the film has surfaced nonetheless.
Unlike the action-packed trailers that have been unveiled in wake of the film's upcoming release, this new scene takes on surprisingly pensive, humane tone.
We've seen glimpses of this scene in the trailers before but this time we get a full minute and four seconds. In it, Tony Stark and Pepper Potts engage in a conversation playing up Stark's confession that he may be suffering from some type of post-traumatic stress.
"I can't sleep," Stark says. "You go to bed. I come down here. I do what I know. I tinker. Threat is imminent and I have to protect the one thing that I can't live without."
The scene choice may be unexpected but further highlights the fact that the Iron Man franchise is not just about action, but also strong performances and character development.
Iron Man 3 centers around Tony Stark as he struggles to deal with his own personal demons as well as the terrorist The Mandarin. The film is already getting good reviews and as of the publication of this article has a 93% favorable rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Iron Man 3 features the return of lead Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark) along with Gwyneth Paltrow (Pepper Potts). Also returning are Jon Favreau (Happy Hogan) and Don Cheadle (James Rhodes). Newcomers include Guy Pearce (Aldrich Killian), Ben Kingsley (The Mandarin) and Rebecca Hall (Maya Hansen). The film hits theaters on May 3.
