The smartphone wars are heating up as manufacturers gear up to lock horns with each other. Samsung and HTC are currently battling it out for Android dominion with the launch of their flagships for 2013 - Galaxy S4 and HTC One smartphones, respectively.
Now it seems that the two smartphone giants are looking to take the rivalry to the smaller smartphone space with the "mini" versions of their respective flagships.
We take a look at how the HTC One Mini (or HTC M4) and Galaxy S4 Mini stack up against each other.
Processor
The Galaxy S4 Mini will likely have a 1.6GHz dual-core processor, whereas the HTC One Mini us rumored to pack in a 1.2GHz dual-core processor.
Display
Both the handsets have a 4.3-inch screen size; however, Galaxy S4 mini, per rumors, will sport a 4.3-inch qHD screen with 960 x 540 pixels resolution (256 ppi) versus the HTC One Mini's 720p screen.
Memory
Memory-wise, the Galaxy S4 Mini will likely offer 8/16/32GB of internal storage, whereas the HTC One Mini is rumored to come only in a 16GB option.
Moreover, the Galaxy S4 Mini would probably have the option to expand the memory using a microSD card, since its predecessor offers the option. The HTC One Mini, on the other hand, may skip this option as its bigger sibling HTC One lacks expandable storage options as well.
The HTC One Mini, however, scores on memory and will have 2GB of RAM vis-à-vis Galaxy S4 Mini's 1GB of RAM.
Camera
The Galaxy S4 Mini is speculated to tout an 8-megapixel primary camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing snapper. The HTC One Mini is rumored to sport the same UltraPixel camera as the HTC One, which points to a 4-megapixel primary snapper on the smartphone.
Software
The Galaxy S4 Mini will likely come with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box with Samsung's Touch Wiz Nature UX user interface. The HTC One Mini will likely come pre-loaded with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with Sense 5.0.
Battery
A removable battery whose size is not yet known will likely power the Galaxy S4 Mini. On the other hand, a non-removable 1700mAh battery is rumored to fuel the HTC One Mini.
Availability
The Galaxy S4 Mini is expected to hit the shelves in July 2013, whereas the HTC One Mini will purportedly make its appearance a month earlier in June.
