The Samsung Galaxy S4 is beginning to make its way to online retailers and brick-and-mortar stores — meaning it's officially old news and it's time to start talking about the Samsung Galaxy S5.
Below, we've rounded up everything that can reasonably be inferred about the Samsung Galaxy S5 price, release date and specs sheet. It should be noted that Samsung has announced absolutely nothing regarding a Galaxy S5 yet, so everything you'll find below is rumor, best-guess and plain, old wild speculation.
Samsung Galaxy S5: Price
There's not much to be said yet about what the Samsung Galaxy S5 might cost, but we can infer. For the most part, Samsung Galaxy S devices retail for $200-$250 on a two-year contract, and cost around $650 without a contract. Samsung has not indicated any particular interest to go higher or lower on the price, so it's reasonable to expect the Samsung Galaxy S5 to be in the same ball park.
Samsung Galaxy S5: Release Date
Samsung's product cycle for Galaxy S smartphones is about a year, so we can again infer when the Galaxy S5 might be coming out. If the Samsung Galaxy S5 follows the product cycle of the Galaxy S4, you can expect an S5 reveal sometime in about a year from now.
Samsung Galaxy S5: Specs
If you're like us, you're getting pretty sick of incremental upgrades that add a few cores to the processor and up the RAM allotment. If the Samsung Galaxy S5 is to retain the market share established by its predecessors, it's going to need something a bit more radical.
The idea we like most so far is a concept design from Mobileaks that features a bendable display that literally folds in half. This would be a clever and elegant way of elevating the phablet design Samsung has been pushing into something more ergonomic.
As far as the Samsung Galaxy S5 specs sheet, we'd like to see a 4,000 mAh battery and at the very least, 3GB of RAM. Some stereo speakers along the lines of the HTC One might be in order too.
