Blizzard has teased the new potential Overwatch hero that took many fans by surprise. However, previous leaks might have already hinted her role and the true character that will take to the battlefield.
Fans recently discovered through an 'interview' that Efi Oladele is an 11-year-old girl who invents robots and seems to be quite the genius at such a young age. Although not much else is known about her, she has won a grant and will be taking a vacation with her parents somewhere for the first time. With this in mind, there might be an underlying essence of her character.
The Next Overwatch Hero Is Not Who She Seems
YouTuber Stylosa created a video sharing some possible theories about how she will play into the battlefield. It is worth noting that she is only a child and Blizzard is not too keen on bringing kids to the fray. However, keep in mind that she is some sort of inventor who just won a large grant and wants to build some sort of robot or machine called the OR15.
There is a chance that she might be some sort of 'controller' character wherein she lets a robot do the fighting for her. Similarly, PVP Live reports that there was a previous leak on 4chan that has been seemingly correct towards previous information like Mei's Lunar New Year skin and Ecopoint Antarctica. There, the leaker also claimed that the next hero is a quadruped omnic hero named 'Anchora' who hails from Numbani and has a West African accent.
If fans can remember back in 2015, Blizzard released an early gameplay mockup that showed off various heroes in their earliest forms. The art showcased a major battle with Mercy buffing what looks like a robot shooting a laser from its eye. Similarly, the Sombra origin animation shows a connection of the Doomfist gauntlet, a blueprint for a quadruped robot and Numbani.
Possibility of a New Animated Short
Since Efi is taking a trip, there might be the possibility of a cinematic short that takes place in the Numbani airport. Alternatively, this might also take place through a character introduction video like with Sombra and Ana. The animation might give the character her motivation to join the ongoing battle in the game through a possible accident carried out by Talon operatives.
Previously, data miners were able to pull up a PTR file showing the broken glass on the payload. Talon might have invaded Numbani on the day of Efi's visit to steal the Doomfist gauntlet. Moreover, they cause some havoc which might lead to tragedy on Efi's part like a plane crash or her parents possibly dying. For now, fans will have to wait for further news regarding the upcoming Overwatch hero.
