The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is already in the works and it is expected to have even thinner bezels as compared to its predecessor, the Mi Mix. In fact, the screen-to-body ratio of the upcoming Xiaomi smartphone is a staggering 93 percent. In comparison, the Xiaomi Mi Mix, which started it all with its so-called edgeless design, had a screen-to-body ratio of 91.3 percent.
Aside from an almost bezel-less design, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 will also sport an AMOLED display, that is if rumors prove true. The switch from LCD to the latest in display technology is seen as one reason why the Chinese company can succeed in lessening the bezels even more. The AMOLED display will allow the highly anticipated handset to ditch the side bezels completely as a curved design can now be utilized.
Android Authority predicts that the top and bottom bezels will remain mainly because of the fingerprint sensor. The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is rumored to be moving the sensor from the back to the front of the handset particularly on the bottom bezel. Earlier rumors indicate that the fingerprint sensor would be embedded in the display.
The rumors about the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 have been few and far between considering the original Mi Mix was one of the most popular handsets since its release. There is one rumor floating around, however, saying the Mi Mix 2 will still come in the ceramic build quality as well as the bone conduction tech for audio. As for its expected release, Xiaomi traditionally debuts new devices on October and rumors point to a launch happening during the latter half of 2017.
Xiaomi was recently in the news for its plan to manufacture its own line of processors instead of depending on Qualcomm which has been the case for many companies for years now. If the plan pushes through, there is a possibility that the Mi Mix 2 will run on the company's own processor which is currently codenamed "Pinecone". Using its own chipset will also allow Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 and other future devices to be sold at much lower prices.
