Pokemon GO Update: Gen 2 Egg Rarity Tiers Revealed; Niantic's Future Plans And More

Niantic has previously been active in revealing several details regarding what is coming in Pokemon GO. On the other hand, fans are excited to see what Niantic will add for the following Pokemon GO updates. During his latest appearance on a panel this week, Niantic CEO John Hanke reveals few new chunks of information for these upcoming additions.

According to Express UK, Hanke revealed at SXSW Conference that they are currently working on several new ideas. However, he added that these projects had not yet been touched by his team as of the moment. Though, these projects are not yet ready to be talked about, it appears that the future Pokemon GO updates that are currently under development will feature something away from Trading, Gym Re-work and PVP.

Meanwhile, the other bit of information that has been recently confirmed is that the Pokemon GO teams have doubled in size since the release of Pokemon GO Gen 2 patch. Hanke also cited how Pokemon GO is slowly reclaiming back its popularity, stating that there are still tens of millions of daily Pokemon GO users.

Following the news, it appears that dataminers have finally discovered how the ranking of Gen 2 egg works. Hatching a particular Pokemon from an egg is always a bit of mystery. However, people from the Silph Road state that they might found out how the system works.

Based on the report from Otakukart, there might be four rarity tiers present in the game as of this writing. These are Common, Uncommon, Rare and Ultra-Rare. It was revealed that the average hatch rate for each tier is flawlessly followed at 1:2:4:8 ratio. Meanwhile, the separation of Rare and Ultra-Rare is not as apparent in this graph. However, combining these two groups suggests that the frequency counts do not seem to follow a binomial distribution.

Lastly, it was noted that the hidden rarity tier is not similar to the distance tier such as 2KM, 5KM and 10KM. That means Pokemon from 10KM eggs are not always rarer than those Pokemon hatched from 2KM or 5KM ones. For instance, it is easier to acquire a 10KM Egg that contains a Dratini than a 2KM Egg with a Machop inside.
