Nokia Lumia 920 customers on Canadian carrier Rogers have started to get the 1314 firmware update, which is expected to bring improvements and fix some bugs on the smartphone.
Rogers Nokia Lumia 920 received the 1308 software update in April and now, just within a month, customers are getting the 1314 firmware update.
The 1314 software update for Rogers in Canada has not been confirmed by Rogers or Nokia but the firmware update should bring similar enhancements and improvements to its AT&T counterpart in the U.S.
The software update is expected to bring improved automatic display brightness adjustment, a fix for intermittent screen blanking during a call, improvements for connectivity issues in certain network conditions and performance and stability improvements.
It's not necessarily true that software update just rolled out is bringing enhancements and bug fixes as planned. Sometimes the software update may bring more issues than resolve existing problems.
Previously, U.S. carrier AT&T rolled out the 1308 software update but when many customers complained that they are facing several issues after downloading the update the carrier had to apparently halt the software release. However, Nokia then released the 1314 firmware update to fix the issues caused after downloading 1308 update.
Even though AT&T Nokia Lumia 920 customers have faced issues with the 1308 firmware update there have not been any major complaints from Canadian customers. As such the 1314 firmware should also bring required enhancements to the handset.
Rogers may roll out the 1314 firmware update in stages. To check for updates on your phone go to Settings > Phone update.
