The OnePlus 5 continues to impress as rumor after rumor indicates that it has what it takes to be the best smartphone to come out in 2017. That's a big statement considering the Samsung Galaxy S8 is currently leading the pack and has no intentions of letting its hold on the top spot go. However, a Geekbench test result that recently surfaced shows that the OnePlus 5 is actually capable of leaving the Galaxy S8 behind.
BGR reported on a GSM Arena exclusive that showed the Geekbench test result of the OnePlus 5 and the scores are better than those of the Galaxy S8. According to the leak, the OnePlus 5 got a score of 1963 and 6687 for the single-core and multicore categories, respectively. As Trusted Reviews noted, the average benchmark scores of the Samsung Galaxy S8 were 1929 and 6084. The scores of the Galaxy S8 Plus, meanwhile, were 1978 and 6375.
The OnePlus 5 will be powered by Qualcomm's latest processor, the Snapdragon 835. As everybody should know by now, this is the same processor inside the Galaxy S8 which should indicate that the two flagships should be on the same level in terms of performance. However, the Galaxy S8 only has 4GB of RAM as compared to the OnePlus 5's rumored 8GB of RAM. Additionally, the OnePlus 5 will supposedly have the newer Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system along with the company's own Oxygen OS customization.
The buzz on the affordable flagship smartphone is that it will have two dual camera set-ups. This means the OnePlus 5 will have a dual front-facing camera and a 23MP dual rear camera. If this rumor courtesy of leaked sketches from China proves true then the Galaxy S8 will be put to shame once more. The Samsung flagship only has an 8MP front camera and a 12MP rear one.
