Nokia had announced the Lumia 925 on May 14, and also said it will roll out a new software update called Amber for its Windows Phone 8 (WP8) range of Lumia smartphones, which will bring a range of new features to the Lumia devices. Now, images of the Lumia 925 running on Amber, have leaked.
The Amber update will roll out to Nokia Lumia 920, Lumia 928, Lumia 820, Lumia 720, Lumia 620 and Lumia 520. The update will bring software enhancements to the camera app and will also allow Lumia users access to the FM radio, which is already included in all devices apart from the Lumia 620.
While other Lumia devices are waiting to get the Amber update, it seems that the upcoming Lumia 925 will be the first Lumia smartphone to get the software update. Recently, Chinese website Dospy had leaked some images (via MyNokiaBlog) of the Lumia 925 running on Amber.
Amber is expected to bring the sleeping screen feature to Lumia handsets that will allow you to leave your phone's screen on, without wasting much battery to view alerts, time and more. The update also brings FM radio to your handset. It also includes camera enhancements such as the Nokia Smart Camera software that adds "Best Shot" and "Action Shot" modes. As Nokia said to Pocket-lint: "You don't need to think about what kind of shot you are going to take anymore."
The Amber update will also bring the ability to tweak colors and saturation. Users of select Lumia smartphones will also be able to flip select Lumia smartphones to automatically put them in silent mode.
Nokia has not announced an exact date for the software rollout but Lumia smartphone owners will be eager enough to get the update as soon as possible.
