Samsung Galaxy Note 2 users in the UK have received a minor software update, but the much-awaited Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean software update is still missing.
Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean is available on Nexus devices as well as Samsung Galaxy S4 and some select international models of the HTC One. However, Galaxy Note 2 users have been left high and dry as their device still runs on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.
According to a SamMobile report, Samsung is now pushing out a minor software update for the Galaxy Note 2. The firmware is a stability update that fixes battery drain issues and other minor niggles related to the handset. The update is available in many European markets and has a build date of May 31. Samsung has pushed the software update over-the-air (OTA) as well as on Samsung KIES.
A recent report also suggests that Samsung has delayed Android 4.2.2 for both Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 because the new version of TouchWiz needs to be tested on both the handsets.
The announcement of the Galaxy Ace 3 may, however, come as good news for many, as the company confirmed that the handset will come running on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. If the Galaxy Ace 3 comes running on the latest Jelly Bean flavor, then it means that Samsung may also be testing Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean on other Galaxy devices.
Many market observers believe that Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean will appear on Samsung handsets like the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 in Q3 of this year. The software update is expected to bring the new interface of the Galaxy S4 to both the flagships of 2012.
