Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean has already made its appearance on some devices and according to a recent report, the software update has also reached Sony Xperia ZL.
An XperiaBlog report says, "Sony Mobile has released the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for Xperia ZL (C650X) users. The screenshot below shows that new firmware build 10.3.A.0.423 is available for the European LTE version of the handset (C6503). Reports are also coming in that the HSPA+ version (C6502) is also receiving the update."
Sony launched the Xperia ZL along with the flagship handset Xperia Z at the International CES event in January this year. Both the Xperia Z and the Xperia ZL have very similar hardware specifications. However, some differences exist between the two handsets with the most signifant one being that the Xperia Z is dust proof and water resistant unlike the Xperia ZL.
XperiaBlog notes that the new flavor of the software arrives on handsets featuring firmware version 10.3.A.0.423, and the European LTE variant of the smartphone is currently receiving the software update.
Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for Xperia ZL is expected to bring a number of enhancements to the Xperia ZL. The software update will bring the latest version of Sony Media Apps with seamless integrated services.
Following the update, your handset will have new customizable navigation bar with quick settings and new widget functionalities, both on lockscreen and homescreen.
Many users would have hoped that Xperia Z will be the first Sony smartphone to get the latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean software update. However, with the software update being rolled out to Xperia ZL, we should hope that Sony is planning for Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean release for Xperia Z sooner than later.
