Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini may launch on July 1, hints UK retailer

Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy S4 Mini but it has not revealed a release date for the smartphone. However, UK retailer Phones4u has listed the delivery date of the smartphone as July 1, which reveals that the device will be launched at least in the UK sooner rather than later.

The Galaxy S4 Mini succeeds Galaxy S3 Mini, which was launched in Oct. 2012, and reached customers in Nov. 2012. Samsung re-branded the Galaxy S3 Mini with the name Axiom, which had slightly different specifications than the Galaxy S3 Mini. Even though, Phones4u indicates a delivery date of July 1 for the Galaxy S4 Mini, we are not sure if the smartphone will reach U.S. at the same time and under the same name.

According to the Samsung press release issued on May 30, "The GALAXY S4 mini delivers the superior performance, intuitive ease-of-use and sleek design of the GALAXY S4 in a highly portable, chic and compact design, making it an ideal companion for everyday life."

The Galaxy S4 Mini gets a bump in screen size and touts a 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED display compared to the 4-inch one of its predecessor. The smartphone also touts 1.5GB of RAM, a 1900mAh battery and a faster 1.7GHz dual-core processor (the Galaxy S3 Mini features 1GHz processor).

At 107gms, the Galaxy S4 Mini is quite light and design-wise it looks like a smaller version of the Galaxy S4. It measures 124.6 x 61.3 x 8.94mm and "the lightweight and compact design enables you to carry and use the device easily with one hand".

The smartphone also sports an improved 8-megapixel primary camera and a 1.9-megapixel front-facing one. It also "supports many intuitive features and services provided by the GALAXY S4, designed enhance every facet of life."

Like its bigger sibling, the Galaxy S4 Mini also has the Group Play and S Health features. It also has the S Translator "for instant translation using text or voice on applications including email, text message."

The Galaxy S4 Mini will be available in two hues: White Frost and Black Mist. The smartphone will come with support for 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+ or 3G Dual-SIM, depending on the market it is heading to.
