The Nokia EOS was expected to be named the Lumia 1020. However, a reliable source has revealed that the smartphone will be called the Lumia 909 when it debuts.
Nokia is preparing to launch a very important smartphone and the company and will be adding a feature that will make its new flagship smartphone stand out from its rivals. That new feature comes in the form of a 41-megapixel PureView camera with Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus, and Xenon flash. The company is looking for a way to differentiate itself and a 41-megapixel camera seems like the perfect way to draw in consumers by offering that high-end feature.
It was recently reported that Nokia would be officially calling the EOS the Lumia 1020. However, it appears that the company has changed its mind and will launch the smartphone as the Lumia 909. The very reliable evleaks has posted a new message and an image of the back of the smartphone to his Twitter account. He is claiming the EOS will not be called the Lumia 1020 as originally thought, but will officially be called the Lumia 909.
Nokia might want to save the Lumia 10 series for future devices, since the Lumia 909 specs are in the same league as the current Lumia 920, 925, and 928, except for its included 41-megapixel camera.
The Lumia 909 is expected to feature a 4.5-inch 768 x 1280 AMOLED ClearBlack Display, will run Windows Phone 8 with some Nokia exclusive apps, it will be powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, include 32GB of internal storage, 1GB of RAM, a 41-megapixel PueView rear camera with Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus, and Xenon flash, 4G LTE radio, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/c/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, NFC (near field communications), FM radio, wireless charging out of the box supporting the Qi standard, and a non-remvable 2,000 mAh battery.
We recently reported that leaked images of the smartphone included AT&T branding, pretty much confirming the Lumia 909 will likely be an AT&T exclusive in the U.S.
We'll have to wait until Nokia's event on July 11 to get the full details of the smartphone, as well as its carrier partners.
