Samsung Galaxy Note 3 makes an appearance on AnTuTu benchmark

Rumors and leaks pertaining to the impending Samsung Galaxy Note 3 have been flying thick and fast and now the phablet has made its appearance on the AnTuTu benchmark site.

Samsung revealed the Galaxy Note 2 at the IFA event in 2012 and the company's CEO JK Shin previously confirmed that it will launch the handset at the IFA event in Berlin this year, scheduled for early September.

"The Galaxy Note III is becoming less adept at keeping itself hidden from the public eye as we approach its rumored September 4 unveiling, and now the LTE variant of the phablet has shown up in an AnTuTu benchmark, confirming once again that it will be powered by the Snapdragon 800 processor (for the LTE variants)," reports SamMobile.

The model number as listed on the AnTuTu benchmarks is SM-N9005, which is expected to be the LTE version of the phone. The device is running on the latest Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system. The clock speed of the processor is around 2.3GHz, which is similar to other devices using the Snapdragon 800.

"However, it's worth noting that the score is decidedly much lower than what the Snapdragon chipset is capable of, so either the test was done on an extremely early prototype, or someone has pulled a few strings to fake the benchmark," SamMobile further points out.

The Galaxy Note 3 is one of the most anticipated Android smartphones of this year. The success of its predecessor plays a key role in the increasing hype around the device. However, when the Galaxy Note 2 was launched there were not many competitors around. Now many companies have launched phablets in the smartphone arena. the Sony Xperia Z Ultra, for instance, runs on Snapdragon 800 as well and will be a notable competitor.

The upcoming Galaxy Note 3 is expected to pack top-end features and rumors suggest that the handset will also be available in four variants just like the Galaxy S4.

With barely a month left for the IFA event, it will not be long until Samsung takes the wraps off the device.
