Nokia Lumia 1020 and Lumia 625 arriving on Canadian carrier TELUS?

Canadian carrier TELUS is expected to launch top-end Nokia Lumia 1020 and the mid-range Lumia 625 soon.

According to a previous report, the Lumia 1020 was supposed to launch exclusively on Rogers; however, latest reports claim that the handset will launch on TELUS as well.

"We've received word directly from TELUS that they will also be carrying the Nokia Lumia 1020, the first time the company has carried a flagship Windows Phone since the Lumia 800 back in early 2012. We've also been told that TELUS will carry the 4.7-inch Lumia 625, the company's largest Windows Phone device, though it's otherwise an entry-level product through and through," reports Mobile Syrup.

The previous top-end Windows Phone 8 (WP8) smartphone, the Lumia 920, was exclusive only to Rogers in Canada. However, the launch of the Lumia 1020 will make customers happy as they can pick up the handset from more than two carriers.

The high-end Lumia 1020 was one of the most-anticipated WP8 handsets of this year and customers have been keenly waiting to try the 41-megapixel rear-facing camera the handset touts.

On the other hand, the 4.7-inch Lumia 625 is currently the biggest WP8 smartphones around and is available only in a few countries globally. If rumors are to be believed and TELUS launches the Lumia 625 soon, then the carrier will be the first to offer the handset in the country.

TELUS has a variety of handsets on offer and most of the devices are in the top-end category. The smartphone portfolio for the network includes the iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy S4, HTC One, BlackBerry Z10 and more. However, the carrier doesn't offer any WP8 smartphones to its customers. The addition of Lumia 1020 and the Lumia 625 may attract many more customers to the network.

If the rumors prove to be true and Nokia launches the Lumia 1020 and the Lumia 625, customers can opt to buy a handset which is not running on iOS, Android or BlackBerry.

TELUS has not yet confirmed its plans to offer WP8 smartphones in the near term. For now we can only wait and see whether the carrier will launch at least one WP8 handset soon.
