Terminator: Survivors Early Access Delayed to 2025—But Why?

The upcoming survival game known as Terminator: Survivors was initially reported to have its early access release on Steam later this year. However, new developments bring bad news for excited gamers.

Developers have announced that it is now delayed to 2025. This news will come as a downer of gamers, especially since it is one of highly anticipated games for the latter part of 2024. Many have been particularly been excited as it is the video game adaptation of one of the most beloved franchises in history.

Instead of being a single-story game that will have users play as the iconic Connors from the movie series, the new title will focus on a different take that features survivors gearing up against the evil Skynet.

Nacon and Nacon Studios Milan shared the latest update on their development of Terminator: Survivors, which announced the  delay in its supposed early access release on Steam on October 24, 2024. Instead of having the game available in just two months, players will have to wait unil 2025 to try and experience the open world survival game.

According to Nacon, they need "extra time" in order to plish the game to fit players' expectations and deliver a game that will fully execute their vision for it.

No exact date in 2025 has been provided by the developers as of press time. However, it is being speculated that the early access release will be delayed for around four to five months.

What to Expect from Nacon's Terminator: Survivors

Terminator: Survivors is an upcoming open-world survival game that will put players in the shoes of survivors. These survivors are the ones who are able to live on after the infamous "Judgment Day," best known as the great purge of humans by Skynet. It will have gamers fight against the iconic T-800 robots, as well as compete over the remaining supplies against other humans.

While it has been initially confirmed for Windows via Steam, the game will eventually be made available for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S as well.

'The Terminator' Franchise

Arnold Schwarzenegger is still the face of "The Terminator" franchise, and his iconic portrayal of the evil, human-killing robot sent from the future to eliminate Sarah Connor remains as one of the most popular films in history. It has also been among the inspirations of action movies that feature robots.

Over the years, the renowned franchise has seen its fair share of game adaptations from different studios, mostly releasing video games that are tied to a recent movie's release. Among the earliest ones released were The Terminator and Terminator 2, and both depict Schwarzenegger as the main antagonist and protagonist. These games were made available to platforms like the Sega CD, Sega Master, Sega Game Gear, and NES.

The franchise's game adaptation has since evolved from its early 8-bit and 16-bit releases with the later ones coming to newer-gen gaming platforms like the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Now, Nacon Studios Milan has developed an open-world survival game for all to enjoy, but fans will have to wait a little longer for the early access release of Terminator: Survivors to drop on Steam next year.
