The Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge will soon be available for pre-order in the Gold Platinum color option with various carriers in Canada.
Samsung officially took the wraps off its new-generation Galaxy S6 flagship smartphone, as well as the sleek Galaxy S6 Edge variant, back at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 earlier this month. At the time, however, the company offered no specific details regarding the two smartphone's launch date and pricing.
A recent leak suggested that the Samsung Galaxy S6 would become available from all major U.S. carriers on April 11, and pre-orders may kick off on April 1. That remains unconfirmed for now, but the two handsets have nonetheless gone up for pre-order in Canada.
Samsung Canada has now announced that the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S5 Edge will soon become available in the Gold Platinum color option in Canada, according to an updated Mobile Syrup report. For now, the two handsets are up for pre-order in the country only in the previously-announced Black Sapphire and Pearl White avatars.
Both the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the curved-display Galaxy S6 Edge will be available through major carriers and retailers in Canada, in addition to Samsung Experience Stores. So far, Canadian carriers that have already started taking pre-orders for the handsets include Bell, Eastlink, Fido, Rogers, SaskTel, TELUS, Videotron, Virgin Mobile, and Wind.
As a reminder, the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge mark a notable change from the design of the previous Galaxy S5 flagship, as the new handsets ditch the plastic body in favor of a metal frame and glass back. In terms of specifications, both smartphones feature 5.1-inch Super AMOLED displays with a QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and pack Exynos 7420 processors under the hood, paired with 3GB of RAM. Other specs include either 32, 64, or 128 GB of internal storage capacity, with no microSD card slot for additional memory. The handsets also sport 16-megapixel rear cameras and 5-megapixel front shooters, and run Android 5.0 Lollipop with a less-bloated TouchWiz UI on top.
