Sony is officially pushing the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to its Xperia Z1 range of devices, as well as the Xperia Z3 Dual.
The company promised to offer regular updates on its Lollipop rollout process, and has indeed announced what devices are next in line for the treat and when they should get the upgrade. A few days ago, Sony revealed that the Xperia Z3 Dual, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 Compact, and Xperia Z Ultra were all set to receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update this week, and the company has now made good on its word.
In a new blog post on Monday, April 13, Sony officially announced that it has started rolling out Android 5.0 Lollipop to the aforementioned devices, just as scheduled.
"Our Android 5.0, Lollipop upgrade continues from today for Xperia Z3 Dual, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 Compact and Xperia Z Ultra, and next week for Xperia T2 Ultra and Xperia C3 (and both dual SIM variants) - rolling out to markets worldwide," Sony announced in its new company blog post.
"After that, it's the original Xperia Z Series; Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR and Xperia Tablet Z - starting in a few weeks time... stay tuned, as we'll announce the rollout launch right here."
Sony said on several occasions that it will push the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to its entire Xperia lineup of devices, and the company has been making notable efforts to keep its word and deliver the update in a timely manner. Obviously not all devices get the treat at the same time, but it's nonetheless good to know that they will receive the update after all.
Android 5.0 Lollipop will bring a slew of neat changes and improvements to the table, as well as new features that aim to enhance the whole experience. Among the highlights, Lollipop will bring Material Design elements for a better visual experience, battery life improvements, Smart Lock, actionable lock screen notifications, a new Privacy Mode, and more.
