Two more AT&T smartphones are getting the Lollipop treat, as the update is now rolling out for the Samsung Galaxy Alpha and the Galaxy S5 Active.
Android 5.0 Lollipop made its official debut back in October as the last major version of Android, bringing a slew of neat features and improvements. The new OS version has been gradually rolling out to devices over the past few months, and continues to expand its availability both in the U.S. and worldwide.
AT&T is now rolling out Android 5.0 Lollipop for two of its Samsung devices - the sleek Galaxy Alpha and the rugged Galaxy S5 Active. Both updates are arriving over the air (OTA) and are rolling out in stages, which means that it may take a few days to reach all devices.
The Samsung Galaxy Alpha launched as the first device to break the company's love of plastic and sport a sleek metal frame around its edges, making it look and feel more premium. The handset has stirred lots of interest particularly due to its design, but a new software update should now make it even more appealing.
The Galaxy S5 Active, meanwhile, launched as a more rugged variant of last year's Galaxy S5 flagship, targeting outdoorsy consumers who want a more durable device.
The new Android 5.0 Lollipop update will bring a range of new features and improvements to the Samsung Galaxy Alpha and Galaxy S5 Active on AT&T, including the much-touted Material Design that brings a cleaner, fresher look with more fluid animations.
AT&T started pushing the OTA for both devices on Tuesday, April 14, which means that some device owners have already received the treat. Those who have yet to get the update notification should receive it shortly, over the next few days. At the same time, those who don't want to wait for the notification can also manually check whether the update is available for their device by going into Settings > About Phone > Software Update > Check for Updates.
