Diablo 3 job positions were recently posted in the Blizzard Career site. Does this imply that the developer is planning to develop an expansion instead of a fourth Diablo installment?
Unannounced Diablo Game
Blizzard posted a lot of job postings for the Diablo franchise more than a year ago. The positions were eventually filled including the game director position. The newly hired team is said to develop an unannounced Diablo game. This triggered speculations if the project is a Diablo 3 expansion, Diablo 4 or something different but still related to Diablo.
New Diablo Job Postings Up
Blizzard once again posted three new job postings for Diablo in general. There were no specifics mentioned on what kind of Diablo project they will be assigned to. However, the User Interface Designer will be assigned to the Diablo 3 game.
Diablo Franchise Speculations
Many believed that the new job postings are either red herrings or Blizzard is simply hiring people to maintain the Diablo 3 game, according to Rhykker. This also raises the growing possibility that no new contents will be released for this third Diablo installment.
The numerous Diablo job postings were scrutinized by ardent fans. They concluded that the expertise of the new hires seem to indicate that they are going to develop a newer Diablo game engine.
Diablo 1 Or 2 Remastered Games?
If Blizzard is not developing a Diablo 3 expansion or a new Diablo 4, there is still possibility. The developer can still make use of a new game engine for a Diablo 1 or 2 remastered game. This theory is quite possible since Blizzard has openly stated that its wants to resurrect its old game using the latest game engine available today.
It is also very possible that Blizzard will announce the launch of remastered games in the upcoming 2106 Blizzcon event. There are also rumors that the developer will simply issue a Diablo 2 HD version but many have discounted this idea.
